Erie Canal History and Science Tours
School and Youth Groups
Hands on History- Historical educational programs will be in cooperation with the Spencerport Trolley Museum and will focus on local history and the impact the canal had on the development of the region and the state.
Programs for schools and other groups will involve hands on experiments on the boat. Surviving historical elements will be pointed out, and a guided tour of the Trolley Museum can be included. The Agricultural and Industrial History of the area will be thoroughly explored, and tied to the present Businesses and Economy.
Hands on Biology / Ecology
- in cooperation with Cornell University's Sea Grant Program

The Sea Grant Program will focus on the biology and ecology of the canal system and the present day influence of the canal on the waterways of the state and region. Learn about the "Exotics of the Erie Canal" and how the connection to the waterways of the world has changed the ecology of our lakes and rivers. See examples of what creatures lurk in the waters below, how they survive, and what place they have in the food web.
